1. White Park Marker

Inscription. One of the oldest municipal parks in New Hampshire, White Park was conveyed to the city by Armenia White in 1884, in memory of her husband Nathaniel. Mr. White, a founder of The American Express Company, was a prominent businessman, legislator, and philanthropist. Both Mr. and Mrs. White were active in the abolition, temperance, and women's suffrage movements. The park was designed by landscape architect Charles Eliot, and retains the character of his original design.

Location. 43° 12.425′ N, 71° 32.795′ W. Marker is in Concord, New Hampshire, in Merrimack County. White Park is bordered on the south by Washington and Centre Streets, on the west by Liberty Street, on the north by Beacon Street and on the east by White Street. There are several entrances to the park on all sides. This marker is located in the park just north of the pond near a paved footpath and just west of the parking area for the park. Touch for map.
