1. Historic Woodberry Marker

Inscription. Woodberry is nestled on a tract of land once known as “Come by Chance.” Woodberry Mill, the first grist mill in the area, was built by Elisha Tyson in 1790. In later years, the location attracted extensive cotton and iron manufacturing mills. Eight working mills employed 4000 neighborhood people. Woodberry is a unique part of Baltimore’s history.
