1. 98th Pennsylvania Infantry Monument
The blue Greek cross formed by by the blue tiles on the front of the monument is the symbol of the 3rd Division, Sixth Corps.

5. The Monument Stands on a Boulder
Standing on a boulder on the north slope of Little Round Top, the monument overlooks the upper end of the Valley of Death. This profile looks at the back and left sides of the monument.

6. Looking Up the Slope at the 98th Penn. and 121st N.Y. Monuments
In afternoon of July 2 the 98th Pennsylvania moved onto a line generally parallel to the modern Sykes Avenue. The regiment was separated from the remainder of their brigade (Wheaton's / Nevin's) initially. The 121st New York moved into this same position later as dusk approached.

7. Advance and Repositioning
Looking over the "Valley of Death" with the intersection of Crawford Avenue and Wheatfield Road in the distant center. After arriving, the 98th advanced into the valley, perhaps just to Plum Run, in support of the Pennsylvania Reserves (Third Division, Fifth Corps). Later the regiment rejoined the rest of their Brigade on the high ground to the right of the intersection. A monument there indicates the regiment's final position.
