Indicated on the marker, This line was 100 yards to the rear, indicating the actual line occupied by the regiment was further back off the road. The ground, today covered by trees, was open field at the time of the battle.

5. Regimental Position
Looking from the tree line toward the west and Sedgwick Avenue. The position of the camera is approximately 100 yards from the flank marker. The right and left flank markers are seen at the respective sides of this photo. And on the right side are the monuments for the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry, 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry, and Battery C, 1st New York Artillery.
