1. 5th Maine Infantry Monument
At the top of the monument is the state seal. Greek crosses in the center are the symbol of the Sixth Corps. Below the crosses is a stack of muskets, a drum, and infantry accouterments.

5th Maine Infantry
2nd Brig. 1st Div. 6th Corps

Occupied this position from
evening of July 2nd until
close of battle.

Mustered into the U.S. service Portland, Me.
June 24, 1861. Served with the Army of the
Potomac in the field from 1st Bull Run to
Petersburg. Mustered out Portland, June 27, 1864.

 
Erected 1889 by State of Maine.

Looking south from the right flank marker stone. The left flank marker stone stands along Wheatfield Road, which runs just in front of the tree line. The sides of the monument display the Greek Cross of the corps.

The left flank marker stone is partially buried beside the Wheatfield Road. Up the hill beyond the regiment's monument is that of Battery C, 1st New York Light Artillery.
