Regarding Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients. Corporal Robert Cox, of Company K, 55th Illinois Infantry was awarded the Medal of Honor for "Bravely defended the colors planted on the outward parapet of Fort Hill" during the battle of Vicksburg, on May 22, 1863.

Private Albert W. Power, of Company A, 3rd Iowa Cavalry, charged the enemy to assist a wounded comrade during the battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas on May 7, 1862.

Before the battle of Sailor's Creek, Virgina, on April 6, 1865, Private William Richardson of Company A, 2nd Ohio Cavalry was captured by the Confederates. He made an escape and provided information on the enemy dispositions.

Corporal Francis Waller was a member of Company I, 6th Wisconsin Infantry at the Battle of Gettysburg. On July
