3. 19th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry Position
The left flank marker for the regiment is on the right side of Hancock Avenue in this photo. The 19th stood in support of the artillery batteries engaged in the bombardment of July 3. When the Confederate infantry assault neared the Copse of Trees, the regiment wheeled forward to hit the attackers on the flanks.

4. Wheel of the 19th Massachusetts
Looking north on Hancock Avenue toward the Copse of Trees. The 19th Massachusetts Monument is out of frame to the right. The regiment wheeled out across the ground here and faced the Copse of Trees, falling on the flank of Armistead's Confederates who had penetrated the Angle. A metal marker for the 19th Massachusetts stands just in front of the Copse of Trees, seen just left of the High Water Mark memorial.
