Additional commentary.
1. Kingwood Tavern Sign
I grew up 2 miles from where the sign is located and passed it every day on the school bus. It used to say that Martha Washington had lodged over night here during the Revolutionary War. Is there a reason that the sign was changed?

Editor's Note: Thank you for your interest in the Historical Marker database. We regret we are not affiliated with the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission, so cannot say why it was changed. It would be interesting to find out though.
