Location. 39° 16.948′ N, 86° 46.019′ W. Marker is in Spencer, Indiana, in Owen County. Memorial can be reached from West Wayne Street west of South Water Street. Go West on West Wayne Street from South Water Street. Enter "Riverside Cemetery" - Soldiers Memorial Hill can be seen easily on the Left. BUT, follow the one way drive-way to the left for easy parking on lower part of the hill. Cemetery workers are very helpful and friendly. Touch for map. The gun is an early model 8-inch Rodman Gun, cast in 1861 by Fort Pitt Foundry, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was given the registry number 77. The muzzle markings indicate it weighed 8503 pounds at that time. It was inspected by John McNutt (initials J.M.N.).

As the other gun this example is an early model 8-inch Rodman Gun, cast in 1861 by Fort Pitt, as registry number 79. The muzzle markings indicate it weighed 8474 pounds at that time. It was inspected by John McNutt (initials J.M.N.).
