Regarding Spanish American War Veterans Gave Their Cannon. During World War II the need for many items created scrap (metal) drives throughout the United States.

Everyone was asked to contribute any metal (or other items) that they felt might help the war effort. Collection locations were designated for people to gather their items.

Many relic cannon were given to assist the efforts of World War II. (Another example of cannon given was at Warsaw, Indiana. The Warsaw cannon were replaced with concrete replicas.)
