The brigade was commanded by Colonel Sanders D. Bruce at the battle.
Inscription.
U.S.
Army of the Ohio.
Bruce's (22d) Brigade,
2d Kentucky, 1st Kentucky,
20th Kentucky,
Nelson's (4th) Division.

This brigade, with its regiments in order as above, was engaged here at 10 a.m. April 7, 1862. It advanced across the peach orchard.

2. Bruce's Brigade Tablet
The tablet stands near the Bloody Pond, near the center of the line established on April 7th. The battery in front of the tablet represents the location of Willard's Battery on the first day (April 6th) of fighting.
