1. CBMU 503 on Pelilieu
Thank you for your remembrances of the Seabees. It is highly appreciated and brings back many memories. As a member of the CBMU 503, we landed on Peliliu immediately following the hurricane depicted in The Caine Mutiny. Our Unit consisted of approximately 220 men and our task was to rebuild and maintain the fighter strip located under Bloody Nose Ridge and turned out to be the shortest bomb run in either stage of WW-2.

served as a Training Center for
other early Naval Construction
Battalions. This monument is
dedicated in honor of Seabees
past and present who have
carried the "Can Do" spirit around
the world in war and peace.
