1. Rebel's Rest Marker
Inscription. Here, before the War Between the States, stood the frame residence of Bishop Leonidas Polk of Louisiana, a principal founder of the University of the South. Here were built in 1866 the first two log cabins of postwar Sewanee by Bishop Charles T. Quintard and Major George R. Fairbanks. In the latter were held the meeting of the trustees in 1866 and founding of the EQB Club in 1870. (Marker Number 2E 55.)

You can see from this slide it is the same house in the photo taken by the other gentleman. Look closely at the left side of the photo at the corner of the house. Also, compare the the roof's edge and you can see the detailed scallops.
