1. Williamson County Jail Marker
Inscription. In continuous use since 1888. Native limestone. Cost $22,000. Replaced 1848 frame jail, at grand jury request. Financed without a bond issue.

French Bastille styling, unchanged in remodeling, at cost of $40,000 in 1934.
 
Erected 1965 by the State Historical Survey Committee. (Marker Number 14481.)

jail was located on the east lawn of the Williamson County Courthouse until October 1888. The new jail, located at 312 Main Street, began accepting prisoners in January 1889.
