This updated marker replaced the original marker apparently destroyed by a vehicle that ran off the road in the winter of 2022.

Location. Marker is missing. It was located near 41° 22.101′ N, 74° 17.376′ W. Marker was in Chester, New York, in Orange County. Marker was on State Highway 17M, half a mile east of Arcadia Road, on the right when traveling east. This marker replaced the original 1997 "Welcome to Chester" marker that was destroyed in December 2022 by an apparent motor vehicle accident. Touch for map.
