Armuchee in Floyd County, Georgia — The American South (South Atlantic)
Floyd Springs
May 16. Returning toward Lay’s Ferry (near Resaca), Garrard met Davis’ (2d) div. 14th A.C. [US], enroute S. to Rome. Garrard informed Davis that Farmer’s Bridge, 8mi. N. of Rome, was at Armuchee Cr., not an Oostanaula River crossing. This was news to Davis, who had been informed otherwise -- due to confusing reports at headquarters.
Davis’ march from Resaca to Rome was predicated on a river crossing at Farmer’s Bridge.
Erected 1953. (Marker Number 057-4.)
