Inscription.  Early medical school, chartered 1867, conducted by Dr. Hector McLean. Closed c. 1877. Stood one-half mile south.
 
Erected 1954 by North Carolina Archives Conservation and Highway Department. (Marker Number I-41.)
 
Location. 34° 58.518′ N, 79° 14.282′ W. Marker is near Raeford, North Carolina, in Hoke County. Marker is at the intersection of Laurinburg Drive (U.S. 401) and Harris Avenue (Business U.S. 401), on the left when traveling west on Laurinburg Drive. Touch for map.
