1. Clinton Ironworks Marker
Inscription. The furnace is all that remains of the 19th century ironmaking community that was established by William Jackson in 1826. Representative of New Jersey’s early iron industry, the furnace utilized locally available resources to supply iron for the region. Under multiple owners, iron was produced in the furnace from 1833 to 1837, and later from a nearby forge until it ceased operation in 1852.
 
Erected 2007 by Township of West Milford.
