More about this monument. The monument and cannon are located on a ridge at the top of about 50 steps near a community historically referred to as Mooretown. A small access road just south of the stairs leads up the side of the hill.
Regarding Civil War Monument. The monument was commissioned by Robert and Martha McClauhlin George, who lost their son, Thomas, in the Civil War.
