Location. 34° 55.663′ N, 85° 16.126′ W. Marker is near Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in Walker County. Marker can be reached from Vittetoe Road west of Vittetoe-Chickamauga Road when traveling west. This historical marker is located in the northwest section of the Chickamauga National Military Park, along a ridge called Snodgrass Hill. To view this historical marker drive to the parking area on Snodgrass Hill and the marker can be seen situated just southeast of the parking lot. According to the location information provided by the National Park Service the, “Monument located in the Chickamauga Battlefield on Snodgrass Hill, map site #149”. Touch for map. According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, “7' square at base & 17'2" high, monument has 2-step rock-faced base, lettered pedestal, and bronze relief of a color bearer on shaft. Capstone incorporates bronze state seal and supports acorn finial.”

The National Park Service also identifies the Leopold Fettweis of Cincinnati, Ohio as being the Architect of this monument.
