More about this memorial. This first permanent monument in Neshkoro was placed in memory of all area servicemen and women who made the supreme sacrifice. It was erected in November 1967 and dedicated on Memorial Day 1968. Dean Dennis Crane was the village's and Marquette County's first Vietnam War victim, who died in 1967 (not 1968 as noted on the plaque). [Source: Oshkosh Daily Northwestern; June 1, 1968]
