1. Background:
This marker is a replica of one that was installed at this location by the State of New Jersey in 1932. Passaic County replaced the marked in 2009-2010 as part of the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Passaic County Planning Department (1929).

George Washington visited Maj. Robert Erskine on several occasions while traveling between Morristown and West Point. He also attended Erskine's funeral here in 1780.

This Manor House, the home of Maj. Robert Erskine, served as the headquarters for Generals George Washington and Nathaniel Greene during the Revolutionary War.
