Frederick H. North 1824 – 1907. Frederick North was born in New Britain on August 10, 1824. After graduating from Yale University in 1846, he entered the manufacturing business with his father and later joined with Oliver Stanley and John B. Talcott to form North, Stanley and Company. The company, which produced hooks and eyes, manufactured union soldiers uniforms during the Civil War. He was later engaged in the manufacture of knit goods with the New Britain Knitting Company. North contributed to the community life of New Britain in many ways. He was an active member of South Congregational Church, a contributor to the New Britain Educational Fund, and a member of the Walnut Hill Park Company. Later in life Frederick North moved to Chicago and then Wisconsin, where he died on July 18, 1907.
