Location. 35° 2.423′ N, 85° 16.429′ W. Marker is in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Hamilton County. It is in Orchard Knob. Marker is at the intersection of Hawthorne Street and East 4th Street, on the right when traveling north on Hawthorne Street. This historical marker (monument) is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, in the city of Chattanooga, a little less than a mile west of Missionary Ridge.

It is situated on the western edge of the Orchard Knob Reservation, National Military Park, very near the park's northwestern corner. According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the marker is, “7' x 4'8" x 13', monument consists of rectangular shaft with base, pedestal, cornice and cap. Smooth-faced panels in base and shaft carry inscriptions, and shaft incorporates bronze state seal."
