1. Congers Station Marker
In 1880 the fledgling Jersey City & Albany Railway Co. completed a track through this area on easements granted by Abraham and Mary Conger, large landholders and prominent citizens. In 1883 a new railroad timetable listed the stop as “Congers.” In 1890 the adjoining sturdy sandstone building was erected for the West Shore Railroad station, which serviced passengers until the 1950s.
