Many famous names were associated with Fort McIntosh, including commanders Lachlan McIntosh, Danial Brodhead and Josiah Harmar, treaty commissioners George Rogers Clark, Richard Butler and Arthur Lee, geographer Thomas Hutchins, and presidential ancestors Richard Taylor, grandfather of Zachary Taylor, and Abraham Lincoln, great-grandfather of President Abraham Lincoln.
