1. Pueblo of San Ildefonso Marker
Inscription. In the 1500’s, migrants from the Pajarito Plateau joined their Tewa-speaking relatives at San Ildefonso. The pueblo is famous as the home of the late María Martínez and other makers of polished black pottery. The modern church, a replica of that of 1711, was finished in 1968.

Marker is at the intersection of State Road 502 at milepost 12.5 and Povi Kaa Drive (Road 401), on the right when traveling west on State Road 502. Touch for map. Regarding Pueblo of San Ildefonso. Visiting Etiquette

The Pueblo is generally open to the public daily from 8am to 5pm, except when tribal activities require closing the Pueblo. All visitors must park at the visitor's center or the Governor's office. There is a $10.00 per car load fee and a still camera fee of $10.00. Movie or video fee of $20.00 and a $25.00 painting or sketching fee. Pleae do not photograph members of the tribe without first asking permission.
