Inscription.
In honor of Joseph Bloomfield, Major in the American Revolutionary War who became General in the War of 1812 and later Governor of the state of New Jersey, for whom the town of Bloomfield was named. On this site he delivered an address July 6, 1797.
 
Erected 1928 by Major Joseph Bloomfield chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
