Inscription. This tract of ground was the first cemetery in the City of Edwardsville. Buried here are the soldiers of our early wars and the pioneer settlers of this community.
 
Erected 1951 by Edwardsville Chapter Historical Society.

Lusk Park was established as a cemetery in the early 1800s. Most of the grave markers were relocated to nearby Woodlawn Cemetery beginning around 1820. Today the area is a community park. However, a few grave markers remain.
