He continued playing and coaching during his military assignments at Camp Lejeune (1951), Pensacola NAS (1952), Edenton MCAF (player-coach, 1954) and again at Pensacola in 1956. He was later the guard coach for the Quantico Marine Base football teams during 1957 and 1958.
