Inscription. The Moravians in Bethabara used a "choir" system, which assigned each member of the congregation to a group according to age, sex and marital status. Nevertheless, the importance of the individual family remained a vital part of community life. As families came to the village in the early years, homes were provided for them.

"Br. and Sr. Rogers and Br. and Sr. Jacob Loesch moved into their new houses."
Bethabara Diary, October 14, 1758.

"...Our Christmas joy was increased when Sr. Anna Loesch gave birth to a little son, who before supper, in a meeting of communicants, who all acted as sponsors, was baptised...and received the name Johann Christian."
Bethabara Diary, December 25, 1758.
