Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Tennis Anyone?
Sagamore’s tennis court occupied this hollow, which was overrun by moss and mole. If your serve whipped into the low branches, you earned a let, or second try. The President got in extra practice at the White House, and despite his portly frame and unorthodox grip, played “a surprisingly good game.”
