Inscription. Rosetta, daughter of Frederick Douglass was denied right to enroll at girl's [sic] private academy by the vote of one parent.

Regarding Seward Seminary. For whatever reason, this location was awarded a marker, while the location of Frederick Douglass' first home in Rochester, less than 1/4 mile north remains unmarked. If you're looking for it, head north on Alexander, it's the parking lot just northeast and across the street from the Medical Arts Building (enjoy a tasty beverage and snack at the Old Toad or Gusto in the MA Building).
