1. Independence Marker

Inscription. This place became the county seat of Grayson County in 1850; the first case was tried in the newly erected courthouse in 1851. The present courthouse was built in 1908. Independence was incorporated in 1934.

Erected 1941 by Virginia Conversation Commission. (Marker Number U-22.)
