1. The Company Store Marker
Inscription.
      The company store was a center of village life for over 160 years, containing not only a wide assortment of merchandise, but also the post office and company bookkeeper’s office.
      Purchases at the store were deducted from workers’ wages.
      The store moved to the Greenwood Lake Turnpike in 1929, where Ye Olde Country Store operated until 1955.
 
Erected by New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry.
 
Location. 41° 8.657′ N, 74° 18.719′ W. Marker is in West Milford, New Jersey, in Passaic County. Marker can be reached from Greenwood Lake Turnpike, on the right when traveling west. Touch for map. Marker is located on a trail in the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District. Marker is in this post office area: West Milford NJ 07480, United States of America.
