1. Roanoke River Marker
Inscription. Early channel of trade, its valley long an area of plantations. Frequent floods until 1952; since controlled by Kerr Dam. Old name was "Moratuck".
 
Erected 1973 by North Carolina Office of Archives and History. (Marker Number A-48.)
