to three Portuguese fraternal lodges, I.D.E.S. Council No. 42, S.P.R.S.I. Council No, 26 and U.P.E.C. Council No. 58. It has been in use since then for lodge meetings, bridal showers, birthday and anniversary parties, card parties and the Portuguese folk dance, the “chamarrita”. The hall gained historical status with “State Point of Historic Interest” on November 14, 1981 and was placed on the “National Register of Historic Places” on March 25, 1982.
