today has become the headquarters and museum for the Mayfield Historical Society, where a number of events take place throughout the year. The home was built by Oliver Rice after the American Revolution. Oliver had been a veteran during the Revolutionary War. It has remained in the Rice family until it was recently procured by the Mayfield Historical society and it is being restored as one of the town's old 18th century homes.
