1. The Southern Railway Station Marker
Inscription. The Southern Railway Station at Knoxville Tennessee has been placed on the National Register of Historic Railroad Landmarks. 1903-2003 The two story buff brick station with its gables was designed by Frank P. Milburn and opened in 1903. An impressive clock tower was removed in 1945. Passenger train service ended in 1970. It has since been refurbished in 1988 by the Southern Station Partnership.
 
Erected 2003 by National Railway Historical Society-Historic Plaque Committee.
