1. The Breakers Marker
Inscription. Rising majestically on a site overlooking the city's once famous beach and amusement park, The Breakers was built as the city's most splendid and luxurious resort hotel. Owned during the 40's by Conrad Hilton, it remained a hotel for decades until its conversion in the 80's to senior living. The architecture was created by a prominent Los Angeles firm responsible for many landmark buildings. The elaborate and whimsical ornament was inspired by the Spanish Baroque.
 
Erected 1989 by City of Long Beach Cultural Heritage Commission.
