Reestablished marker recognizing the first cabin built in Price by Abraham Powell in 1877. Original marker was at 600 South Carbon Avenue.

About 1000 ft. west of this spot is the site of the first cabin built in this valley in the summer of 1877 by Abraham Powell.

Location. 39° 35.359′ N, 110° 48.734′ W. Marker is in Price, Utah, in Carbon County. Marker is located in the Price River Trail trailhead parking lot. The trailhead parking lot is on the south side of West 6th Street, just west of the intersection with South Carbon Avenue. Touch for map. More about this marker. This is a composite marker: a new marker placed in 2011 which recognizes and includes the original marker from 1936. Both the new marker and the old marker were local Boy Scout Troop projects. The new marker was placed 75 years after the original, in conjunction with the 2011 Price, Utah Centennial.
 
Also see . . .  First Settlers of Carbon County. Oct 1877 - Caleb Baldwin Rhoades and Abraham Powell built a cabin and spent the fall and winter trapping in the area.
