1. Carter Warehouse Marker
Inscription.
In 1951, the Carter Warehouse office was built on this location. Over the years the business grew to include a peanut shelling plant, a cotton gin and a processing plant. In 1962, Billy Carter came home from the Marines to enter the business with his brother Jimmy Carter and mother, "Miss Lillian." At one time, Rosalynn Carter's father, Edgar Smith, operated a garage in this location.
