Giants When Troy resigned from the National League in 1882, most of its players went to the N.Y. Gothams, renamed The Giants in 1883 (because of the "very tall Troy players") and eventually moved to San Francisco in 1958.

Location. 42° 45.69′ N, 73° 40.496′ W. Marker is in Troy, New York, in Rensselaer County. Marker can be reached from Peter Guenette Lane. There is a paved path winding its way across the Knickerbacker Park from the north end of Peter Guenette Lane at the parking lot for Troy's 1990 Knickerbacker Ice Arena, and ending at the parking lot behind the Lansingburg High School at the east end of 107th Street. Following the dedication ceremony, a team representing Troy, playing under the 1882 National League rules, defeated Worcester, Mass 2-0 to extend a winning streak against their former league rivals which dated back to September of 1882.

2. Troy's Baseball Heritage Monument

Monument is located in the Nickerbacker Park, in the Lansingburgh section of Troy, New York. This monument celebrates the history of professional baseball in Troy, New York, which was a member of the National League in the late 1800's. The San Francisco Giants plaque is mounted on the extream right in this view. Troy's Lansingburg High School is in the background.
