Dedicated on October 13, 1988

This chapel is the oldest naval chapel in the Pacific and the first interdenominational chapel in the service. Originally dedicated on October 13, 1901, this shingle style chapel was designed by Albert Sutton through the efforts of Chaplain Adam A. McAlister and U.S. Senator George C. Perkins. The chapel contains sixteen stained glass windows created by Tiffany studios.

Regarding St. Peter's Chapel. The large memorial triptych on the front wall was "...erected by the citizens of San Francisco, friends of these heroes and the Native Sons of the Golden West". The memorial is to "Rear Admiral John Drake Sloat who took possession of California with a naval force July 7, 1846", to "David Glasgow Farragut, first commandant of the Navy Yard, Mare Island, 1854-58" and to "Commodore Robert Field Stockton who completed the conquest of California with naval and land forces 1846-47".
