1. Chapel Hill Marker
Inscription. A post-Civil War African American farming community established on former plantation land. Named for the Digges family chapel. A Freedman's Bureau School established in 1868 and a meetinghouse of ca. 1880 became focal points of the community. A benevolent society lodge and Rosenwald school were built in 1922. Followed by a second Rosenwald school in 1925.
 
Erected 2014 by The Maryland Historical Trust, Maryland State Highway Administration.

This Cemetery is remnant of the old location of Providence Methodist-Episcopal Church.

The only remaining headstone in the weed choked Chapel Hill Cemetery is that of James. E. Sansbury who died in 1870.
