1. Hindman Settlement School Marker
Inscription. Founded 1902 by Kentuckians May Stone and Katherine Pettit in cooperation with the local community. The mission of this nondenominational school is to provide educational and service opportunities for the people of the mountains while keeping them mindful of their heritage.
 
Erected 1998 by Kentucky Historical Society and Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 177.)
