No more appropriate words could be used than the above in the incident relative to the death of U.S. Army Sgt. Leroy Johnson of Oakdale, La., who covered two Japanese grenades with his own body, saving the lives of those with him, on December 15, 1944 on the island of Leyte. For his outstanding gallantry he was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
