1. Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Bouligny Marker
Inscription.
In the spring of 1779, Bouligny acting on order of Governor Bernardo de Galvez, led about 60 Spanish settlers to this site, marking the founding of New Iberia. To commemorate that event, the schoolchildren of New Iberia and the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of the City of New Iberia and the State of Louisiana erected this memorial.
