To Her
Twenty-Ninth Regiment Infantry.
Lieutenant Colonel David M. Dunn, Commanding.
Second Brigade (Dodge).
Second Division (Johnson).
Twentieth Corps (McCook).
Saturday, September 19th, 1863, about one p.m., this regiment, with its brigade, reached a position in line near the Brock Field, charged the enemy and drove him back across the north end of the same into the timber near the Winfrey Farm and remained there until nightfall, where it took part in resisting the night attack of Cheatham's and Cleburne's Divisions.

September 20th, 10 a.m., marched to northeast corner of the Kelly Filed and became heavily engaged and held the line against all assaults until 6 p.m.

Loss: killed 11; wounded 93; captured 68.

Erected 1891 by State of Indiana. (Marker Number MT-787.)

2. 29th Indiana Infantry Marker

According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, "8'6" x 6'6" x 13', the monument consists of four stone slabs decreasing in size toward the top. The two-step base supports a smooth-fronted inscribed shaft with scroll forms at side. Top slab has state seal and ends in pyramidal top."

I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this monument and the monument's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
