1. Stone Wall Hill Marker
Inscription. A portion of the nearby stone wall was laid by the Works Progress Administration in 1938-39. Begun during the Great Depression as the Civil Works Administration, the WPA was a nationwide unemployment relief program that provided much needed work and income for local residents. The wall was laid by hand with stones hauled from farm fields and local quarries and stands as a tribute to those who struggled to survive during desperate times.
